About Miami Valley Youth Soccer Association

Miami Valley Youth Soccer Association (MVYSA) is a select soccer program that offers the children of the Miami Valley area the opportunity to play soccer. The league was incorporated in 1980 and is a part of the Ohio Soccer Association Ohio with players coming from all over Ohio.

Miami Valley Youth Soccer Association gives 5 to 20 year old girls and boys the opportunity to advance their soccer skills in a competitive environment. Our goals are to stress sportsmanship, skill development and to have FUN.

The players come from as far west as Eaton and Greenville, as far east as Urbana and Springfield, as far south as Springboro and Washington Court House and as far north as Wapakoneta and Lima with all the communities in between (Mostly the counties of Preble, Montgomery, Greene, Clark, Champaign, Logan, Shelby, Darke, Mercer, Auglaize, Fayette, and Miami). MVYSA has over 225 teams that participate in fall and spring seasons.

As a select league players are chosen by teams (most often by open tryouts) and the teams (most often through their club) sign up to play in the league.

License Course Requirements

MVYSA has a minimum license requirement for all coaches.

MVYSA Rule 2.4. All coaches for teams playing in the U8 through U19 age groups must hold, at a minimum, a U.S. Soccer Grassroots 7v7, 9v9, or 11v11 license taken either online or in person. Previous Youth Module II, an F coaching license (available online), or the equivalent USC (United Soccer Coaches which was NSCAA) diploma or higher may be approved by the Executive Director.

All coaches must have a license in the U.S. Soccer LC (Learning Center) prior to our issuing a card.

Coaches with no license - US Soccer has a Grassroots license program. Three of the 4 Grassroots courses that meet our minimum requirement - 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 are available online or in person. They all require the coach to enroll in the LC and take a free introductory course before taking the appropriate Grassroots course.
To take the introductory course go to U.S. Soccer Learning Center and sign up or login (link below). Once signed up click on Courses on page top. Choose Available Courses, then choose Introduction under Grassroots pathway. The introductory course takes about 20 minutes. After taking introductory course a coach can then take the appropriate level license course either online through the DLC or in person. In person classes are offered by Ohio Soccer Association (link below).

Coaches with a license - Older courses that meet our minimum requirement are the Youth Module II, (not YM I), F, E, D and higher U.S. Soccer licenses. United Soccer Coaches or older NSCAA diplomas when approved by our executive director can meet our requirement.
a. Grassroots licenses are automatically shared from the U.S. Soccer Learning Center (LC) to the registration system used by Ohio South and show in the coaches profile.
b. Many coaches have had their pre-grass roots license or USC diploma uploaded to the LC. These are also automatically shared from the U.S. Soccer Learning Center (LC) to the registration system used by Ohio South and show in the coaches profile.
c. If coach has one of the older licenses that has not or cannot be uploaded to the LC, then he/she should email a copy of their license to MVYSA (office@mvysa.com).

IMPORTANT - Coaches need to make sure that the email they use in the Learning Center is the same as they use when registering for a coaching position at ESC.

U.S. Center For Safesport

As a part of the requirements to be a coach in the MVYSA, a Safesport certification is also required.

About U.S. Center for Safesport

As reports of sexual abuse in amateur sport made headlines in the 2010s, it had become clear: America deserved a safer sport culture.

To achieve this, a new paradigm anchored by a new organization would be needed. Authorized by Congress to help abuse prevention, education, and accountability take root in every sport, on every court. Dedicated solely to ending sexual, physical, and emotional abuse on behalf of athletes everywhere.

From this need, the U.S. Center for SafeSport was created.
